With these 2-time champs out before it begins, who will take their place?

Gostisbehere and the Hurricanes answer in Game 2 6/5/2026 6:00:00 AM

Shayne Ghostisbehere had two points for Carolina as they bounced back again after a game one loss. He contributed to Brad Moulton's five-point night, lifting him into second place just one point out of first. Peter Tanner also had five and Matthew Warner six to jump into 22nd place, still 16 points away from the podium.

Also collecting six points were Claudia Winkler and Ryan Wood, who are flush with six players in the final round. Their miss was picking Brandon Bussi as their Carolina goaltender (along with 20 other people). In hindsight, Frederik Andersen (only 8 picks) would have Claudia and Ryan in first place instead of 28th.

Theodore's 3 points lead Vegas in game one 6/3/2026 5:29:00 AM

Vegas took game one with the help of defenseman Shea Theodore's three points. They lifted Amy van Steendelaar briefly into a tie for first before Toni Laronga got the goalie win. Theodore's points also contributed to five-point nights for Hugh Freedman, who climbed from 11th to 8th, and Tim Day, 35th to 25th.

Carolina vs Vegas 5/31/2026 7:36:00 PM

Carolina's smothering play finished off the Habs and set up a final round that may look a lot like the round it just finished. The Hurricanes' 316 picks should be playing a much larger role in the outcome, but it was the upper entries with Montreal's 217 picks that were poised to make a difference in the final round. For now, at the end of round three, Toni Laronga continues to lead with 120 points, ahead of second place Amy von Steendelaar (118) with Brad Moulton and Brendan Ash tied for third (116). Brad has four picks remaining, but Brendan and Dan Greenstein (114) have a potential Vegas Cup bonus of 10 points. Down in 35th, a ways back with 98 points we also have Peter Tanner with 6 picks and a Vegas bonus and Matthew Warner with 5 picks and a Carolina bonus who could be longshot contenders.

Andersen's third shutout makes him the dream pick 5/29/2026 5:29:00 AM

Frederik Andersen notched his third shutout of the playoffs as Carolina appears to be in full control of their series against Montreal. His 8 picks led by Lisa Marion (15th place) and Brett Kirkpatrick (16th) score 26 points each, leading not just goalies but all players and will surely land him on the 2026 Dream Team.

Favoured team bites the dust 5/27/2026 6:56:00 PM

Colorado's 943 player picks and 213 Cup picks are OUT after being swept by Vegas. This affects about 75% of the pool in a bad way, about 25% in a good way. Amy van Steendelaar, currently in 3rd place, is the immediate benefactor, having 6 picks remaining while most of the top 20 have 3 or fewer. Chesterfield von Picklepuck III (15th) has 5 players and Jamie Sarner (17th) has 6. All three stand to gain ground, but Amy and Jamie will both lose at least one player from MTL or CAR.

The top entry that could enter the finals with 6 players - if Carolina defeats Montreal - is Peter Tanner, currently ranked 59th.

Toni extends the lead 5/25/2026 8:44:00 AM

Toni Laronga now leads the pool by three points over Brendan Ash while Dan Greenstein, six back, is pushing to challenge. But all three of them, as with most of the top ten, are going to lose either Vegas or Colorado players, and that could happen sooner than we expected.

Avalanche facing a sweep 5/25/2026 8:36:00 AM

Mark Stone and Mitch Marner had two points each for Vegas, who have put Colorado and their 213 Cup picks against the ropes. This threatens most people in the pool as the Avalanche have 73% of possible player picks and half of the Cup picks. Stay tuned but the titan might fall.

Conference Finals Stakes 5/20/2026 11:07:00 AM

The stakes are high for Colorado (943 picks) and Vegas (140) as the most popular, favoured team plays the playoffs' highest-scoring team in the Conference Finals. Vegas has powered most of the top 50 while Colorado's offence has been average. Now those entries hope to lock in their contender status by defeating them this series. A similar story in the east where Montreal (214) has produced offence but their favoured opponent Carolina (316) has had very little production while sweeping their first two rounds.

Habs advance, more contenders hobbled 5/19/2026 7:20:00 AM

Montreal's overtime victory in game seven has eliminated Buffalo's 171 picks including Tage Thompson (72) and Rasmus Dahlin (53), and knocking out three players each from previously unscathed new leader Toni Laronga, 5th place Dan Greenstein, and 12th place Mike Cuddemi. We are down from 16 to eight unscathed entries, the highest rank being Joy Smith in 111th.

Buffalo breakout 5/17/2026 8:03:00 AM

Rasmus Dahlin (53 picks) had five points and Tage Thompson (72) four as the Sabres pushed Montreal to game seven, and powering the top contestants with nine picks onto the leaderboard sooner than expected. Toni Laronga completed the journey from 183rd into a tie for first on the strength of those nine points. Brendan Ash also had nine to move into third place, two behind Lizzy and Toni. Dan Greenstein's 10 points lifted him to fourth - after starting the round in 288th. Avery Spedding also had 10 points.

Game seven on Monday will determine if these contenders will keep their Sabres and their player advantage. 217 Montreal picks are on the line along with 171 Sabres.

A few more points on offer 5/15/2026 5:35:00 PM

With just one or two Habs-Sabres games remaining in round 2, Lizzy Freed continues to lead, with a six point margin over fast-rising Trish Robichaud who is now tied for second with Nathan and Joel. Trish has three Habs who could close this gap. Amy van Steendelaar also has three Canadiens and is just one point further back in fifth. But a handful of unscathed entries - with Buffalo players - are right behind them including Toni Laronga, Dan Greenstein, Brad Moulton and Mike Cuddemi. The battle on Saturday, and if necessary Monday, will determine which of these keep their Habs or Sabres players and become the championship contenders.

Vegas advances to Colorado showdown 5/15/2026 5:30:00 PM

Leading scorer Mitch Marner collected two more points to lead Vegas to the series win, eliminating Anaheim's 9 picks. The three lowest-ranking teams of the round are now out as the favourites have advanced. We now await the conclusion of Montreal (217 picks) vs Buffalo (171) , the series to watch in the East before Vegas and Colorado square off in the Conference Finals on the 20th.
