After a few bumps in the series, Carolina closed out the Stanley Cup finals in the same dominant fashion that it showed throughout its 16-3 playoff run. It was the second-fewest losses in a 16-win Cup championship, behind only the 16-2 Edmonton Oilers of 1988.

Congratulations to Brad Moulton on his late run to the Lord Stanley's Pool championship! His second top-10 finish and first on the podium featured a rise from 300th after round 1, into the top 10 after round 2, and finally taking the lead in game four of the finals. Brad won by a single point after holding off Claudia Winkler. Claudia was the top entry to claim the 10-point Carolina Cup bonus, and made the final jump with Brandon Bussi's game six shutout, lifting her from one point out into second place. Bussi played the final three games in a surprise turn of events. Toni Laronga and Amy van Steendelaar held on to a tie for third after being #1 and #2 for much of the second half of the playoffs.

Peter Tanner continued his hot streak with eight points on Thursday, including three from Nikolaj Ehlers, to vault himself into the top five. He gained six points against Brendan Ash and Dan Greenstein in game five alone, to disrupt their potential top three finishes if Vegas can win the final two games. Dan was positioned well for a third place finish but is now on the outside looking in by one point, unless Mark Stone can pour it on.

Peter's six players could continue his rise, as he will look to close a five-point deficit to get to the podium even with a Carolina win.

The Carolina Hurricanes can take home the Cup with a win on Sunday, after their game 5 victory. Brad Moulton has run away from the pack with a five point lead, with Amy van Steendelaar and Toni Laronga tied for second. Amy closed the gap to tie Toni Thursday and that could be your podium in Carolina wins.

But coming up fast are Matthew Warner and Claudia Winkler, the top two contestants who took the Hurricanes to win. Matthew would be one point behind Amy and Toni, and Claudia two points, with the 10 point bonus for Carolina. With another performance like in game five, they could swipe the final two podium places.

Brad Moulton had three points on Tuesday to take over first place, the first leader change since late in round 2. Brad would win if Carolina wins the Cup, but if Vegas wins he would hold on to third place as of now. Peter Tanner, who had a six-point night on Tuesday and leads all poolies over the last week with 19 points, has jumped into the top ten and would be three points out of a podium finish if Vegas wins.

Mitch Marner had a monster second period with a hat trick and four points, giving him 28 for the playoffs, before Carolina responded with another comeback. More scoring for the pool and more drama on the ice! Brad Moulton completed the long trek from 300th in round 1 into a tie for first now with Toni Laronga. Amy van Steendelaar sits three points back and these would currently be the podium finishers if Carolina wins the Cup. But it was Vegas who took the lead in the series, and if the Golden Knights win it would be Brendan Ash leading the way with Dan Greenstein in second, and Brad and Toni tying for third. Shayne Ghostisbehere had two points for Carolina as they bounced back again after a game one loss. He contributed to Brad Moulton's five-point night, lifting him into second place just one point out of first. Peter Tanner also had five and Matthew Warner six to jump into 22nd place, still 16 points away from the podium.

Also collecting six points were Claudia Winkler and Ryan Wood, who are flush with six players in the final round. Their miss was picking Brandon Bussi as their Carolina goaltender (along with 20 other people). In hindsight, Frederik Andersen (only 8 picks) would have Claudia and Ryan in first place instead of 28th.

Vegas took game one with the help of defenseman Shea Theodore's three points. They lifted Amy van Steendelaar briefly into a tie for first before Toni Laronga got the goalie win. Theodore's points also contributed to five-point nights for Hugh Freedman, who climbed from 11th to 8th, and Tim Day, 35th to 25th.

Lord Stanley's Pool enters the final round with an unexpected matchup of Carolina versus Vegas, as the pool's contenders jockey for final positioning.
